Forrest Micke

Forrest Micke is not only more fun than a barrel of monkeys, he is also a technically brilliant dog trainer, a gifted educator, and an inspiring coach spanning a broad spectrum of canine training disciplines. He specializes in protection sports and obedience, with a skill set ranging from foundational training to advanced performance work. During his more than 20-year kynological career, Forrest has conducted more than 150 seminars and workshops around the world, working with dog-sport clubs of every discipline, dog rescue organizations, search and rescue teams, law enforcement K9 units, and very many private dog owners. He played a central role in the development of CPP—China’s first protection suit sport—which has since grown to include thousands of trainers and participants across the country. Forrest’s popular online courses (e.g. Heeling Toolbox) have also reached a global audience, providing accessible, high-quality education for trainers at every stage of their development. He is a frequent collaborator with Michael Ellis and Dr. Stewart Hilliard, most recently contributing to the Kynology project—a comprehensive initiative aimed at advancing the education of dog trainers through the integration of scientific principles, technical proficiency, and a deep appreciation for the human–canine relationship. Forrest’s hands-on instruction is characterized by his patience; his gift for on-the-spot assessment of handler-dog teams; his ability to give them exactly the feedback they need in exactly the form they need it; and the real warmth and interest he exhibits when meeting new people in the dog training community. Forrest is a “people person” in the best sense of the phrase.
